5-HTP (5-Hydroxytryptophan)

5-HTP (Griffonia simplicifolia extract)

(2S)-2-amino-3-(5-hydroxy-1H-indol-3-yl)propanoic acid

5-HTP, or 5-hydroxytryptophan, is a naturally occurring amino acid, chemically (2S)-2-amino-3-(5-hydroxy-1H-indol-3-yl)propanoic acid (CAS 4350-09-8, C11H12N2O3, MW 220.22), the hydroxylated metabolite of L-tryptophan. It is supplied as a seed extract of the West African plant Griffonia simplicifolia standardized to a typical 5-HTP content of at least 98%, rather than as a fermentation or synthetic material. It is a off-white to tan crystalline powder. We manufacture it in capsule, tablet and powder formats.
