Calcium Ketoisocaproate (Calcium KIC)

calcium bis(4-methyl-2-oxopentanoate)

Calcium ketoisocaproate (calcium KIC) is the calcium salt of alpha-ketoisocaproic acid, the keto-acid counterpart of the amino acid L-leucine, chemically calcium bis(4-methyl-2-oxopentanoate) (CAS 51828-95-6, C12H18CaO6, MW 298.35). The parent free acid, also called ketoleucine, is 4-methyl-2-oxopentanoic acid (CAS 816-66-0), and the calcium salt is the standard trade form, giving a stable crystalline powder. It is produced synthetically. We manufacture it in powder, capsule and tablet formats.
