L-Alanine

(2S)-2-aminopropanoic acid

L-Alanine is the free-form of the non-essential alpha-amino acid, chemically (2S)-2-aminopropanoic acid (CAS 56-41-7, C3H7NO2, MW 89.09), carrying its amino group on the alpha carbon. It is distinct from beta-alanine, a separate family in this catalogue, which carries the same molecular formula and weight but bears its amino group on the beta carbon. It is produced by microbial fermentation and supplied as a crystalline powder standardized to a typical assay of at least 99%. We manufacture it in powder, capsule and tablet formats.
