L-Histidine (base)

(2S)-2-amino-3-(1H-imidazol-5-yl)propanoic acid

L-Histidine base is the free-base form of the conditionally essential amino acid, chemically (2S)-2-amino-3-(1H-imidazol-5-yl)propanoic acid (CAS 71-00-1, C6H9N3O2, MW 155.15), carrying an imidazole side chain. Together with beta-alanine it is a building block of the dipeptide carnosine, which is offered as a separate family in this catalogue. It is produced by microbial fermentation and supplied as a crystalline powder standardized to a typical assay of at least 98.5%. We manufacture it in powder, capsule and tablet formats.
