L-Proline

(2S)-pyrrolidine-2-carboxylic acid

L-Proline is the free-form of the non-essential amino acid, chemically (2S)-pyrrolidine-2-carboxylic acid (CAS 147-85-3, C5H9NO2, MW 115.13), unique among the proteinogenic amino acids for its cyclic pyrrolidine ring and secondary-amine structure. It is a principal constituent of collagen and is produced by microbial fermentation, supplied as a crystalline powder standardized to a typical assay of at least 98.5%. It is distinct from its hydroxylated derivative hydroxyproline, which is offered as a separate family. We manufacture it in powder, capsule and tablet formats.
