S-Adenosyl-L-methionine disulfate tosylate is the stabilized commercial salt of S-adenosyl-L-methionine, known as SAMe or ademetionine (CAS 97540-22-2, C22H34N6O16S4, MW 766.81). SAMe itself is a methyl-donor molecule formed in the body from L-methionine and ATP, but it is unstable in its free form, so it is supplied as the stabilized disulfate p-toluenesulfonate salt. This grade is produced by yeast fermentation and isolated as the salt, supplied as a hygroscopic white to off-white powder, typically formulated into enteric-coated tablets. We manufacture it in tablet and capsule formats.
