Sarcosine (N-Methylglycine)

2-(methylamino)acetic acid

Sarcosine, or N-methylglycine, is a non-proteinogenic amino acid, chemically 2-(methylamino)acetic acid (CAS 107-97-1, C3H7NO2, MW 89.09), the N-methylated derivative of glycine. It shares its molecular formula and molecular weight with L-alanine but differs structurally, carrying the methyl group on the nitrogen rather than on the alpha carbon. It is produced synthetically and supplied as a crystalline powder at a typical assay of at least 98%. We manufacture it in powder and capsule formats.
