Gnetin C

trans-resveratrol dehydrodimer (2-arylbenzofuran stilbenoid dimer)

Gnetin C is a stilbenoid resveratrol dimer (CAS 84870-54-2; C28H22O6, molecular weight 454.47), formed by oxidative coupling of two trans-resveratrol units into a 2-arylbenzofuran dimer. It is obtained from the seed of melinjo (Gnetum gnemon) and standardised by HPLC. Its dimeric structure gives it a molecular weight close to twice that of a resveratrol monomer. It is supplied as an off-white to pale-beige powder. We manufacture it in capsules and powders.
