Magnesium Stearate (Vegetable)

Magnesium octadecanoate (magnesium stearate)

Magnesium Stearate is the magnesium salt of stearic acid, magnesium octadecanoate (CAS 557-04-0, C36H70MgO4, MW 591.24), designated E470b and the most widely used lubricant in tablet and capsule manufacture, typically at 0.25 to 2%. It reduces friction between the powder blend and the tooling or capsule-filling parts, preventing sticking. It is offered as a vegetable-sourced grade so that finished products can be declared suitable for vegan and vegetarian lines. It is supplied as a fine white powder and manufactured into tablets, capsules and powders.
