Colloidal Silicon Dioxide is synthetic amorphous silica, SiO2 (CAS 7631-86-9, MW 60.08), designated E551 and used as a glidant and anti-caking agent, typically at about 0.25 to 2% of a blend. It is a very fine, high-surface-area fumed or precipitated silica that coats particle surfaces to reduce friction and moisture clumping, improving the flow and uniformity of powders and tablet granulations. It is supplied as a light, fluffy white powder and manufactured into powders, tablets and capsules.
