Stearic Acid (Vegetable)

Octadecanoic acid (stearic acid)

Stearic Acid is octadecanoic acid (CAS 57-11-4, C18H36O2, MW 284.48), a saturated C18 fatty acid designated E570 and used as a tablet lubricant and binder, frequently in combination with magnesium stearate. It eases compression and ejection and can help bind granulations. It is offered as a vegetable-sourced grade so that finished products can be declared suitable for vegan and vegetarian lines. It is supplied as a white waxy powder or flake and manufactured into tablets and capsules.
