Nascent Iodine

Iodine (elemental, dilute liquid)

Nascent iodine is a dilute consumable liquid of elemental iodine (CAS 7553-56-2; I2, MW 253.81) carried in a liquid such as ethanol or glycerol and marketed as nascent or atomic iodine. On an elemental basis the iodine species is 100% iodine, the same element as the crystalline molecular iodine already in the range, but it is supplied at low working concentration as a liquid and is dosed by drop rather than by weight. The distinction from molecular iodine is the dilute liquid format and the nascent/atomic marketing designation rather than a different chemical identity. We supply it as a liquid preparation.
