Selenium Glycinate

Selenium amino-acid chelate (glycine)

Selenium glycinate is a selenium amino-acid chelate formed by reacting a selenium source with the amino acid glycine, supplied as a standardised chelate rather than a single stoichiometric compound, so it carries no single CAS number or molecular formula. It is standardised to its declared selenium content, with amino-acid chelate grades commonly around 2% selenium. It differs from the organic seleno-amino acids L-selenomethionine and Se-methyl-L-selenocysteine, which are defined molecules, and from the inorganic sodium selenite and sodium selenate, which carry selenium as an oxidised anion. It is produced as a fine powder and manufactured into capsules, tablets and powder blends.
