Flavin Adenine Dinucleotide (FAD)

Flavin adenine dinucleotide

Flavin adenine dinucleotide (CAS 146-14-5) is the fully assembled coenzyme form of vitamin B2, chemically flavin adenine dinucleotide (C27H33N9O15P2, molecular weight 785.55). It is a dinucleotide in which flavin mononucleotide, that is riboflavin-5'-phosphate, is joined to adenosine monophosphate through a pyrophosphate bridge, and is produced by enzymatic or fermentation-based processes. It differs from the parent riboflavin, a free crystalline base, and from riboflavin-5'-phosphate sodium (FMN), the single phosphate ester, by carrying the additional adenine nucleotide, which makes it by far the largest and heaviest member of the family at 785.55 against 376.36 for riboflavin and 478.33 for FMN. It is commonly supplied as its disodium salt, and we manufacture it in capsule, tablet and powder formats.
