Menaquinone-9 (Vitamin K2 MK-9)

2-Methyl-3-[(2E,6E,10E,14E,18E,22E,26E,30E)-3,7,11,15,19,23,27,31,35-nonamethylhexatriaconta-2,6,10,14,18,22,26,30,34-nonaen-1-yl]naphthalene-1,4-dione

Menaquinone-9 (CAS 523-39-7) is a long-chain vitamin K2 with a nine-unit all-trans isoprenoid side chain, chemically a 2-methyl-1,4-naphthoquinone bearing a nonaprenyl tail (C56H80O2, molecular weight 785.2). It is obtained by bacterial fermentation and standardised to all-trans MK-9 by HPLC. Within the K2 group its tail is longer than those of MK-7 (seven isoprene units, 649.0 g/mol) and MK-4 (four units, 444.6 g/mol), giving it the higher molecular weight of 785.2, and it differs from K1 in having a polyunsaturated menaquinone chain rather than the single-double-bond phytyl chain of phytonadione. It is a fat-soluble material supplied as an oil concentrate, and we manufacture it into softgels, capsules, tablets and liquids.
