Berberine Sulfate

Berberine sulfate (berberine hydrogen sulfate)

Berberine Sulfate is the acid (hydrogen) sulfate salt of the isoquinoline alkaloid berberine (CAS 633-66-9, C20H19NO8S, MW 433.43 g/mol). It is assayed by HPLC to a berberine content of at least 95% expressed as the sulfate salt, so like Berberine HCl it is an isolated single-compound salt rather than a standardized botanical extract. It differs from the more common hydrochloride grade in its counter-ion, pairing berberine with sulfate in place of chloride, which gives it a distinct molecular formula and molecular weight. Supplied as a yellow powder, it is manufactured into capsule and bulk powder formats.
