Directly Compressible Xylitol (XYLISORB XTAB type) is the pentitol sugar alcohol xylitol, (2R,4S)-pentane-1,2,3,4,5-pentol, CAS 87-99-0, EC 201-788-0, C5H12O5, MW 152.15 (E967/INS 967). It is made by spray-granulating xylitol into agglomerated free-flowing granules that meet a USP/EP excipient grade of at least 98.5% xylitol, the marginally lower assay reflecting the granulated structure versus the at-least-99% crystalline and micronized grades. Unlike the milled crystalline and micronized powders, this agglomerated grade is engineered for direct compression, supplying the flow and compaction characteristics needed to form tablets without a separate wet-granulation step. It is supplied as a white, coarse, free-flowing granular solid. We manufacture it into tablets and capsules.
