Biotin (Vitamin B7)

D-Biotin

5-[(3aS,4S,6aR)-2-Oxohexahydro-1H-thieno[3,4-d]imidazol-4-yl]pentanoic acid

D-biotin is the biologically active isomer of vitamin B7, chemically 5-[(3aS,4S,6aR)-2-oxohexahydro-1H-thieno[3,4-d]imidazol-4-yl]pentanoic acid (CAS 58-85-5, EC 200-399-3), a bicyclic molecule joining a fused ureido ring and a tetrahydrothiophene ring that carries a pentanoic-acid side chain. It is manufactured by chemical synthesis to USP/EP grade at a typical assay of at least 98 percent, resolved to the single d-configuration rather than supplied as the racemic dl-biotin mixture, which is not offered as a supplement ingredient. Molecular weight is 244.31 for the formula C10H16N2O3S, and the material is presented as a white to off-white crystalline powder. We manufacture it in capsule, tablet, softgel, powder, gummy and liquid dosage formats.
