trans-Resveratrol (Japanese Knotweed)

(E)-5-[2-(4-hydroxyphenyl)ethenyl]benzene-1,3-diol (trans-3,5,4'-trihydroxystilbene)

trans-Resveratrol is a stilbenoid polyphenol, the (E)-isomer of 3,5,4'-trihydroxystilbene (CAS 501-36-0; C14H12O3, MW 228.24). This grade is solvent-extracted and purified from the root of Japanese knotweed (Polygonum cuspidatum, syn. Reynoutria japonica) and standardized by HPLC to 98-99% trans-resveratrol, the highest-concentration botanical source in the family. It is a near-pure free stilbene aglycone, unlike the grape/red-wine extract, which supplies the identical molecule at only 5-20%; unlike polydatin it carries no bound glucose unit, and unlike pterostilbene it retains all three free phenolic hydroxyl groups. It is supplied as an off-white to light-beige crystalline powder. We manufacture it in capsules, tablets, softgels, powder blends and gummies.
