A concentrated native leaf extract of ginkgo (Ginkgo biloba), the maidenhair tree. It is defined by a 50:1 native drug-to-extract ratio, meaning fifty parts of raw leaf are concentrated to one part of extract, and it is not adjusted to a fixed marker percentage. This ratio basis sets it apart from the 24/6, 27/7 and EGb 761 grades, which are standardized to stated flavone glycoside and terpene lactone values, and from the whole-leaf powder, which is not concentrated at all. It is a whole-extract concentrate rather than an isolated compound such as ginkgolide B or bilobalide. Supplied as a fine brown powder, it is manufactured in capsule, tablet and powder dosage formats.
