Chromium polynicotinate, also described as niacin-bound chromium or chromium(III) trinicotinate, is a trivalent chromium complex coordinated with nicotinic acid (vitamin B3), commonly supplied under branded designations such as ChromeMate (CAS 64452-96-6, formula C18H12CrN3O6, molecular weight 418.30). It is manufactured synthetically by complexing a chromium(III) source with nicotinic acid. It carries approximately 12% elemental chromium, the same as chromium picolinate, and shares its empirical formula and molecular weight; the two differ only in the pyridinecarboxylic-acid ligand, nicotinic acid here versus picolinic acid in the picolinate. Unlike the inorganic chloride it is an organic ligand complex rather than a simple salt. We produce it as a powder for capsule, tablet and powder formats.
