Black cohosh (Actaea racemosa) root and rhizome concentrated into a native 4:1 extract. This grade is defined by its drug-to-extract ratio, four parts raw root and rhizome to one part extract, and is not standardized to a triterpene glycoside marker. It therefore differs from the family's HPLC marker-standardized 2.5% and 5% triterpene glycoside grades, which fix a marker percentage, and it is a more modest concentration than the 10:1 grade while still being a solvent-extracted concentrate rather than the whole milled powder. It is a whole native extract, not an isolated compound, supplied as a dry powder. We manufacture it in capsules and tablets.
