Chromium Chloride

Chromium(III) chloride hexahydrate

Chromium chloride is a simple inorganic trivalent chromium salt, most commonly supplied as the hexahydrate (CAS 10060-12-5, formula CrCl3.6H2O, molecular weight 266.45). It is a mineral-sourced salt rather than an organic ligand complex, which gives it the highest elemental chromium load of the family at roughly 19.5% by weight, well above the organic picolinate and polynicotinate complexes near 12% and the amino-acid chelates below 3%. The hexahydrate is a violet to green crystalline solid that is readily water-soluble, in contrast to the water-insoluble yeast-bound biomass form. We manufacture it in capsule, tablet and liquid formats as a basic inorganic chromium source.
