Vitamin B6

Pyridoxal-5'-Phosphate (P-5-P)

3-Hydroxy-2-methyl-5-[(phosphonooxy)methyl]pyridine-4-carbaldehyde monohydrate

Pyridoxal-5'-phosphate (CAS 41468-25-1 for the traded monohydrate; anhydrous CAS 54-47-7) is the phosphorylated aldehyde vitamer of vitamin B6 and its coenzyme form, with the formula C8H10NO6P.H2O and a molecular weight of 265.16. It is produced synthetically and supplied as the monohydrate, which is the traded raw-material form. In contrast to pyridoxine and pyridoxamine it carries both an aldehyde group and an esterified phosphate group on the pyridine ring, which accounts for its higher molecular weight relative to the salt and free-base vitamers. It is offered as a crystalline powder, which we manufacture into capsules, tablets and powders.
