HMB free acid is the free-acid form of beta-hydroxy-beta-methylbutyrate, chemically 3-hydroxy-3-methylbutanoic acid (CAS 625-08-1, C5H10O3, MW 118.13), marketed under the BetaTOR brand. Unlike the calcium salt, it carries no counter-ion and no water of crystallization, and it is supplied as a gel or liquid concentrate rather than a dry crystalline powder. It is produced synthetically. We manufacture it in capsule and liquid formats.
