L-Cysteine hydrochloride monohydrate is the hydrochloride salt monohydrate of L-cysteine (CAS 7048-04-6, C3H10ClNO3S, MW 175.63). The chloride counter-ion and single water of crystallization make it more water-soluble and more oxidatively stable than the free base, which is valued given cysteine's reactive thiol group, while lowering the cysteine content per unit mass. This grade is fermentation-derived rather than keratin-hydrolysed and supplied as a crystalline powder. We manufacture it in powder, capsule and tablet formats.
