Baicalein

5,6,7-trihydroxy-2-phenyl-4H-chromen-4-one

Baicalein is the aglycone of baicalin, 5,6,7-trihydroxy-2-phenyl-4H-chromen-4-one (CAS 491-67-8; C15H10O5, molecular weight 270.24). It is the free flavone that remains after the glucuronic acid unit is hydrolysed from baicalin, and is supplied as a high-purity HPLC powder derived from Scutellaria baicalensis. Carrying no bound sugar, it has a lower molecular weight than the parent glucuronide and a higher aglycone load per unit mass. We manufacture it in capsules, tablets and powders.
