Naringenin

(2S)-5,7-dihydroxy-2-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-2,3-dihydro-4H-chromen-4-one

Naringenin is the aglycone of naringin, (2S)-5,7-dihydroxy-2-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-2,3-dihydro-4H-chromen-4-one (CAS 480-41-1; C15H12O5, molecular weight 272.25). It is the free flavanone that remains after the neohesperidose sugar is hydrolysed from naringin, and is supplied as a high-purity HPLC powder. Because it carries no bound sugar, it has a much lower molecular weight than the parent glycoside, a higher aglycone load per unit mass, and it lacks the bitterness of naringin. We manufacture it in capsules, tablets and powders.
