Naringin (Citrus)

Naringenin 7-O-neohesperidoside

Naringin is a citrus flavanone glycoside, naringenin 7-O-neohesperidoside (CAS 10236-47-2; C27H32O14, molecular weight 580.53), and the characteristic bitter principle of grapefruit (Citrus paradisi). It is extracted from citrus peel and fruit and standardised by HPLC to a stated naringin percentage, and also serves as a bitterant. Unlike the family's aglycone grade, naringenin, it carries the neohesperidose disaccharide at the 7-position, which accounts for its higher molecular weight and its bitterness. It is supplied as an off-white to pale-yellow powder. We manufacture it in capsules, tablets and powders.
