Rutin (Rutoside)

Quercetin-3-O-rutinoside

Rutin, also called rutoside, is the flavonol glycoside quercetin-3-O-rutinoside (CAS 153-18-4; C27H30O16, molecular weight 610.52), a commodity flavonoid extracted from Sophora japonica flower buds or from buckwheat (Fagopyrum). It is standardised by HPLC, commonly to 95% or higher, and supplied as a pale greenish-yellow powder. Unlike the family's semi-synthetic derivative, troxerutin, it carries the native rutinose disaccharide on an unmodified quercetin backbone with no hydroxyethyl substitution. We manufacture it in capsules, tablets and powders.
