Troxerutin

Tris(2-hydroxyethyl)rutoside (3',4',7-tri-O-(2-hydroxyethyl)rutin)

Troxerutin is a semi-synthetic derivative of rutin, the tris(2-hydroxyethyl) ether 3',4',7-tri-O-(2-hydroxyethyl)rutin (CAS 7085-55-4; C33H42O19, molecular weight 742.68). It is produced by hydroxyethylation of rutin, attaching three 2-hydroxyethyl groups to the flavonoid, which does not occur in nature and markedly increases water solubility relative to the parent. The added hydroxyethyl groups raise its molecular weight from 610.52 for rutin to 742.68, distinguishing it from the unmodified flavonol glycoside. It is supplied as a yellow HPLC-assayed powder. We manufacture it in capsules, tablets and powders.
