Copper Carbonate (Basic)

Copper(II) carbonate basic

Basic copper carbonate is the basic carbonate of copper, CuCO3 dot Cu(OH)2 (CAS 12069-69-1; Cu2(OH)2CO3, MW 221.12), corresponding to the mineral malachite. It is among the most concentrated copper sources in the family at roughly 57% elemental copper, above the gluconate, citrate and bisglycinate grades, and like copper oxide it is essentially water-insoluble, in contrast to the soluble organic salts. It is a green to blue-green powder used as a low-cost fortification source, manufactured into tablets, capsules and powder blends.
