Zinc chloride is the inorganic zinc salt of hydrochloric acid (CAS 7646-85-7; ZnCl2, MW 136.29), one of the most water-soluble and hygroscopic zinc sources. At about 48% elemental zinc it carries a higher load than the citrate, gluconate and the organic chelates, below the oxide but close to the sulfate. Its high solubility suits liquid and lozenge systems, which distinguishes it from the sparingly soluble oxide and carbonate. We supply it as a white crystalline solid manufactured into liquids, capsules and tablets.
