Potassium PABA (Aminobenzoate Potassium)

Potassium 4-aminobenzoate

Potassium PABA (CAS 138-84-1), chemically potassium 4-aminobenzoate, is the potassium salt of para-aminobenzoic acid, with the molecular formula C7H6KNO2 and a molecular weight of 175.23. It is produced by chemical synthesis as a water-soluble powder. Neutralising the carboxylic acid of PABA to a potassium carboxylate makes it water-soluble and near-neutral in solution rather than acidic, which is its principal difference from the free-acid form, and the potassium counter-ion raises its molecular weight above that of the free acid. We manufacture it in capsule, tablet and powder formats.
