Arginine Alpha-Ketoglutarate (AAKG 2:1)

L-arginine alpha-ketoglutarate (2:1); bis(L-arginine) 2-oxopentanedioate

Arginine Alpha-Ketoglutarate 2:1 (AAKG) is a salt pairing two molecules of L-arginine with one molecule of alpha-ketoglutaric acid (CAS 5256-76-8), formula C17H34N8O9, molecular weight 494.50. The arginine component is fermentation-derived and combined with alpha-ketoglutarate to form a defined crystalline salt. Its 2:1 arginine-to-ketoglutarate stoichiometry gives it a higher arginine fraction than the 1:1 AAKG grade, and unlike the hydrochloride or aspartate salts its counter-ion is alpha-ketoglutarate rather than a mineral acid or a second amino acid. We manufacture it as a powder and in capsule and tablet formats.
