Magnesium orotate is the magnesium salt of orotic acid, with two orotate ligands per magnesium ion (CAS 34717-03-8; C10H6MgN4O8, MW 334.48). It is a premium form usually supplied as the dihydrate and carries only about 7% elemental magnesium, the lowest elemental load among the family's forms owing to the heavy orotate ligands. The material is a white to off-white powder. It is manufactured into tablets and capsules.
