Pyridoxamine Dihydrochloride

4-(Aminomethyl)-5-(hydroxymethyl)-2-methylpyridin-3-ol dihydrochloride

Pyridoxamine dihydrochloride (CAS 524-36-7) is the dihydrochloride salt of pyridoxamine, the aminomethyl vitamer among the three natural vitamin B6 forms, with the formula C8H14Cl2N2O2 and a molecular weight of 241.11. It is supplied as a synthetic ingredient. Structurally it differs from pyridoxine and pyridoxal by carrying an aminomethyl (-CH2NH2) group in place of the hydroxymethyl or aldehyde group on the pyridine ring, and it is salted with two equivalents of hydrogen chloride rather than the single equivalent used for pyridoxine hydrochloride; unlike pyridoxal-5'-phosphate it carries no phosphate group. It is offered as a crystalline powder, which we manufacture into capsules, tablets and powders.
