L-Lysine

L-Lysine (base)

(2S)-2,6-diaminohexanoic acid

L-Lysine base is the free-base form of the essential amino acid L-lysine, chemically (2S)-2,6-diaminohexanoic acid (CAS 56-87-1, C6H14N2O2, MW 146.19). It is produced by microbial fermentation and supplied as a crystalline powder standardized to a typical assay of at least 98.5%. As the unsalted base it carries no counter-ion, giving the highest lysine content per gram of the family, in contrast to the hydrochloride salt which dilutes that content with chloride. We manufacture it in powder, capsule and tablet formats.
