Phosphoric acid, or orthophosphoric acid (CAS 7664-38-2; H3PO4, MW 97.99), is the inorganic oxyacid of phosphorus and the parent acid from which the phosphate salts are derived. On a 100% acid basis it carries about 32% phosphorus, the highest phosphorus density of the phosphorus sources covered here, reflecting the absence of any metal counter-ion. Because it is a liquid acid, it is supplied and handled as an aqueous solution, commonly at 75% or 85% strength, and is recognised as food additive E338. We supply it in liquid format.
