Choline Citrate

Choline dihydrogen citrate; (2-hydroxyethyl)trimethylammonium dihydrogen citrate

Choline Citrate (CAS 77-91-8) is the dihydrogen citrate salt of the choline cation in a 1:1 ratio, known as choline dihydrogen citrate, with the molecular formula C11H21NO8 and a molecular weight of 295.29. It is produced synthetically as a water-soluble powder that is well suited to liquid formulations. Its citrate counter-ion is larger than the chloride and bitartrate counter-ions of the other choline salts, so it carries less choline per gram than choline chloride. It is the mono-choline (1:1) salt and is distinct from tricholine citrate, the separate 3:1 compound. We manufacture it in powder, liquid and capsule formats.
