Choline Chloride (CAS 67-48-1) is the chloride salt of the choline cation, with the molecular formula C5H14ClNO and a molecular weight of 139.62. It is a GRAS, very high-volume commercial choline source produced by chemical synthesis and used widely in food and animal feed. With a simple chloride counter-ion it carries the highest choline content of the choline salts, approximately 75% by mass, well above choline bitartrate and dihydrogen citrate. Because it is strongly hygroscopic it is commonly supplied as a 70-75% aqueous solution or adsorbed onto a carrier such as silica rather than as a free powder. We manufacture it in powder and liquid formats.
