D-Chiro-Inositol (CAS 643-12-9) is one of the nine stereoisomers of inositol and an epimer of myo-inositol, sharing the same molecular formula C6H12O6 and molecular weight 180.16 but differing in the configuration of the hydroxyl at one ring carbon. It is derived from plant sources such as carob or by bioconversion of myo-inositol. It is distinguished from myo-inositol only by that single stereochemical difference, and from inositol hexaphosphate by being the free, unphosphorylated cyclitol. It is a crystalline powder commonly combined with myo-inositol in a 40:1 ratio. We manufacture it in powder, capsule and tablet formats.
