Myo-Inositol (CAS 87-89-8) is the most abundant of the nine stereoisomers of inositol, a cyclitol (cyclohexanehexol) with the molecular formula C6H12O6 and a molecular weight of 180.16; though it shares a formula with glucose it is a carbocyclic polyol rather than a sugar. It is produced from plant sources such as rice bran or corn via hydrolysis of their phytate, and supplied to USP/Ph.Eur./FCC grade. It differs from d-chiro-inositol only in the spatial arrangement of its ring hydroxyls, making the two stereoisomers, and from inositol hexaphosphate, which is this same ring fully esterified with phosphate. It is a crystalline powder frequently used at gram-level doses and is commonly paired with d-chiro-inositol in a 40:1 ratio. We manufacture it in powder, capsule and tablet formats.
