Pyridoxal Hydrochloride

3-Hydroxy-5-(hydroxymethyl)-2-methylpyridine-4-carbaldehyde hydrochloride

Pyridoxal hydrochloride (CAS 65-22-5) is the hydrochloride salt of pyridoxal, the aldehyde vitamer among the three natural vitamin B6 forms, with the molecular formula C8H10ClNO3 and a molecular weight of 203.62. It is produced by chemical synthesis as a water-soluble crystalline powder. Unlike pyridoxal-5'-phosphate it carries no phosphate group, making it the unphosphorylated aldehyde vitamer; and it differs from pyridoxine, built on a hydroxymethyl (alcohol) group, and from pyridoxamine, built on an aminomethyl group, by presenting a free aldehyde on the pyridine ring. It is salted with a single equivalent of hydrogen chloride, and we manufacture it in capsule, tablet and powder formats.
