Copper Citrate

Copper(II) citrate

Copper citrate is the copper(II) salt of citric acid, chemically copper(II) citrate (CAS 866-82-0, formula C6H4Cu2O7, molecular weight 315.18). It is produced synthetically by reacting citric acid with a copper(II) source to an organic-acid copper salt. On an anhydrous basis it carries about 40% elemental copper, matching copper sulfate and standing above the roughly 14% of copper gluconate, though as an organic-acid salt it remains distinct from the inorganic copper sulfate and copper oxide and from the copper bisglycinate chelate. It is supplied as a powder and manufactured into capsules, tablets and powder blends.
