Synthetic Vitamin E (dl-alpha-tocopherol)

all-rac-alpha-tocopherol

all-rac-alpha-tocopherol (CAS 10191-41-0) is the chemically synthesized form of alpha-tocopherol, produced as a racemic mixture of all eight possible stereoisomers rather than the single RRR configuration of the natural grade. It shares the same molecular formula (C29H50O2, 430.7 g/mol) and free, unesterified chromanol hydroxyl as natural d-alpha-tocopherol, but carries a lower conversion factor of 1.10 IU/mg because only part of the isomer mix matches the natural configuration. Like the natural free tocopherol it is a fat-soluble oil rather than a crystalline ester. It is offered as an oil for softgels, capsules and liquids and as a carrier-adsorbed powder for dry applications.
