Ferrous fumarate is the iron(II) salt of fumaric acid (CAS 141-01-5, C4H2FeO4), produced synthetically to USP/EP grade. It is an organic-acid salt with the iron in the reduced +2 oxidation state, carrying about 33% elemental iron, a markedly higher load than the organic salts ferrous gluconate or ferrous lactate and roughly comparable to dried ferrous sulfate. Physically it is a reddish-brown to red-orange powder of relatively low water solubility compared with the sulfate or gluconate salts. We manufacture it in tablet, capsule, softgel, liquid and gummy formats.
