Carbonyl iron is finely divided high-purity elemental (metallic) iron in the zero oxidation state (CAS 7439-89-6, Fe), produced by the thermal decomposition of iron pentacarbonyl. Because it contains no salt-forming anion or ligand, it is the most concentrated iron ingredient in the family, typically 97% or more elemental iron by weight. Physically it is a grey, finely divided metallic powder rather than a crystalline salt or chelate. We manufacture it in tablet, capsule, powder and liquid formats.
