Sulbutiamine

Isobutyryl thiamine disulfide (bis(2-methylpropanoate) diester)

Sulbutiamine (CAS 3286-46-2) is isobutyryl thiamine disulfide, a bis(2-methylpropanoate) diester and a synthetic dimeric thiamine disulfide derivative, with the molecular formula C32H46N8O6S2 and a molecular weight of 702.89. It is produced by chemical synthesis and standardized at typically 98% or higher; two open-ring thiamine units are joined through a disulfide bond and esterified with isobutyryl (2-methylpropanoate) groups, giving it the highest molecular weight in this family. Like benfotiamine and fursultiamine it is lipophilic rather than water-soluble, but it is distinguished from those single-unit derivatives by its dimeric, two-thiamine structure. It is supplied in powder form, and we manufacture it in capsule, tablet and powder formats.
