L-Glutamic Acid

(2S)-2-aminopentanedioic acid

L-Glutamic acid is the free-form of the non-essential dicarboxylic amino acid, chemically (2S)-2-aminopentanedioic acid (CAS 56-86-0, C5H9NO4, MW 147.13). It is the free acid, chemically distinct from L-glutamine, its amide offered as a separate family, and from the sodium salt monosodium glutamate used as a flavour enhancer. It is produced by microbial fermentation and supplied as a crystalline powder standardized to a typical assay of at least 99%. We manufacture it in powder, capsule and tablet formats.
